Item 8.01    Other Events.

Houston, TX – Gulf Island Fabrication, Inc. (NASDAQ: GIFI), announced today that, through its subsidiary Gulf Island Marine Fabricators, L.L.C., it has received notice to proceed with an option for the fabrication of a third 8,000 bhp Twin Screw Diesel River Towboat.  Revenue backlog and man-hours associated with this project will be reported in connection with the Company’s announcement of financial results for the quarter ending December 31, 2014.
